Childcare

Reconciliation of work/research/studies and family is an important concern for Heidelberg University. The basis for this is professional and reliable childcare. The university offers both regular and flexible childcare options for the children of university members.

Clearing service ‘Science and family’

When a baby arrives, the Research and Family Clearing Service, together with the head of the institute, clinic or working group, offers a moderated counselling session to the parent who is taking over the childcare.

Caring for and looking after relatives

An increasing number of employees are faced with the challenge of simultaneously managing their work and caring for elderly or chronically ill relatives. Here you can find out how you as a caregiver can be supported.

Individual funding

The University has set up an individual funding scheme to provide timely support in individual emergency situations.
