Childcare

Reconciliation of work/research/studies and family is an important concern for Heidelberg University. The basis for this is professional and reliable childcare. The university offers both regular and flexible childcare options for the children of university members. 

For regular childcare, places are available in two nurseries (age 0-3yrs)  and two daycare centers (ages 3-6yrs) run by Studierendenwerk Heidelberg. The Service for Families arranges childcare places for employees on request. Childcare places for children of student parents are allocated by Studierendenwerk Heidelberg. For children of visiting researchers, the University offers places in the KidsClub, the university's own childcare facility. With our flexible childcare options - backup service, conference care, holiday care, and KidsBox - we provide individual, hourly childcare in emergencies, at conferences, and during school holidays. This allows parents to respond flexibly to professional as well as private demands.
