Childcare is available Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. It is open all year round except on weekends, public holidays, a few days around the turn of the year, and two teacher training days. Children currently receive meals free of charge from the Studierendenwerk Heidelberg. The monthly childcare fee is income-based and currently ranges from €275 to €450.

INF 159 daycare centre and Humboldtstraße 17 daycare centre

Important note: The INF 159 daycare centre will close on 31 December 2025. Heidelberg University has 20 daycare places for its employees at this facility. These places will be transferred to the Humboldtstraße 17 daycare centre over the course of 2025 and 2026. This means that the university will retain all of its daycare places. There is no admission freeze. All affected parents, educators, etc. have already been informed. During this transition period, new contracts for the INF 159 daycare centre will only be concluded until its closure on 31 December 2025. From 1 September 2024, it will be possible to register for a place from September 2025 via the central registration office of the City of Heidelberg.

Daycare concept: Your child will be cared for according to their individual development and supported in their emotional, social and cognitive skills. In addition to a wide range of stimulating activities provided by the childcare team, the daycare centre's educational concept includes a variety of activities in cooperation with external institutions such as the Heidelberg Singing and Music School and the ‘Green School’ in the Botanical Garden.
