Heiskills Certificate CAS Gender & Queer Studies
For the 2025/26 winter semester, the initiative has established the Certificate of Advanced Studies in Gender & Queer Studies at Heidelberg University.
This marks the first time that students can earn a partial degree in Gender & Queer Studies at Heidelberg University. The Certificate of Advanced Studies offers master’s and doctoral students an interdisciplinary, research-oriented, and professionally relevant qualification, allowing them to develop an individual profile for research and/or future professional practice. The CAS is generally open to students and doctoral candidates from all disciplines. The interdisciplinary curriculum is continuously expanded in accordance with the development of gender studies across the various disciplinary fields at Heidelberg University.
Content
The CAS is designed to equip graduates with the ability to apply theoretical and methodological approaches from Gender & Queer Studies to a variety of topics, to help identify mechanisms of discrimination, and to address and communicate gender-related issues in an interdisciplinary manner. By learning to link diverse bodies of knowledge, they contribute to shaping gender-equitable and critical discourses and practices in academia and professional settings.
