Take the first step
Have you experienced a difficult situation (conflict, discrimination, harassment, bullying, stalking) and would like to have an initial assessment by talking to someone you trust?
It can be helpful to find someone in the immediate vicinity of your organisation who has specific knowledge of the particular circumstances on site.
From 15 November 2024, 68 guides will be offering an opportunity for confidential initial contact at various locations throughout the university. The confidential guides are trained volunteers from various areas of the university who are happy to take the time to talk to you and your concerns in confidence. They are there for you to make initial contact and refer you internally or externally. In addition, all other confidential contact points at the university are also available for discussions and for you and are subject to a duty of confidentiality during counselling sessions.
Would you like a confidential counsellor in your institution or based on other criteria (language skills, position, etc.)? Choose your confidential counsellor from the pool of the entire university - and together we will clarify further options for counselling or further process steps at the university.
What concerns can be brought up in a conversation with the guides?
The confidential guides have space for your issues and will support you with an outside perspective in case of uncertainties and refer you to the right contact points. The guides are trained to categorise your situation in the initial contact, even without details. Avoiding re-traumatisation is the premise of the initial consultation.
! The approach of the guides and the discussions are fundamentally confidential and anonymised, i.e. without mentioning names or details of third parties that allow conclusions to be drawn about individuals!
You can contact them with concerns about work or study conflicts, but also for initial information on sexual harassment, sexual coercion and violence, bullying, stalking and (multiple) discrimination. Experiences of discrimination include sexist, racist, anti-Semitic, anti-Muslim, ableist, trans- or queer-phobic acts or statements.
How do I get in touch?
From 15 November 2024, the following people will be available to listen to you in a confidential first contact as confidential guides.
- You are welcome to make an appointment for a personal meeting by email or direct contact.
- Please only state your wish for a confidential meeting!
- There is room for content in personal contact. Confidential guides are there for you in the initial meeting. Names or unique characteristics of third parties are not necessary in order to understand what options you have. Thank you for bearing this in mind during the conversation.
