Anti-discrimination basis Legal basis

Anti-discrimination work in the areas of discrimination (e.g. in the form of sexist, racist, anti-Semitic, anti-Muslim, ableist, transphobic or queerphobic actions or statements), harassment, bullying, stalking and conflicts at work or in studies is based on various legal and university regulations at Heidelberg University.

Depending on the individual case, different legal principles apply to incidents, and in addition to confidential initial counselling, targeted legal advice from a lawyer with relevant expertise is recommended.

In addition to applicable laws at the federal level, the State Higher Education Act (LHG) provides guidelines for higher education institutions at the state level and, in Section 4 a (4), extends the scope of the General Equal Treatment Act in Baden-Württemberg to include members and affiliates of the university who are not employees (including students).

Further legal basis for equality work can be found in the Senate Guideline on Fair Conduct and in the general collection of legal principles at UNIFY.
