Online tutorial ‘’Practising respect, promoting diversity, shaping cooperation‘’

Treating each other with respect and in a spirit of partnership is part of Heidelberg University's identity.

ALL members - students, lecturers, researchers and administrative staff - should be able to study and work in an environment characterised by mutual respect and in which they feel safe.

BUT: Despite all intentions, degrading behaviour, discrimination and harassment can occur in everyday interactions.

With this tutorial, we want to present our services and specific recommendations for action to those affected, managers and all members of the university. In five modules, the tutorial deals with questions relating to the topic of discrimination and provides assistance on the measures and services available at Heidelberg University to counteract harassment, bullying, stalking and discrimination.

Let's go: Inform yourself - when, how and where you want. The modules can be accessed individually or listened to one after the other online. In the online version, a narrator will guide you through each module. The modules can also be downloaded as PDF files.

Module 1: Introduction

The first module is about respectful and cooperative interaction with each other, which should be guaranteed for everyone at Heidelberg University.

Module 2: Prevention

Module 3: Legal basis

In Module 3, we look at the legal foundations of discriminatory behaviour in the context of the university.

Module 4: Guidelines and measures

The penultimate module deals with the Senate guidelines, what can be done if help is needed and further information on the guidelines and measures that exist.

Module 5: Recommendations for action

In Module 5, you will first find some general recommendations based on experiences that have been shown to be helpful. In the second part, we give specific recommendations for action that are useful in cases of sexual harassment and bullying, stalking and discrimination.
